 Hversdagshetjur

Þrátt fyrir yfirstandandi farsótt heldur lífið áfram. Strætisvagnar keyra, sjúkrahúsin starfa og frystihús og álver skapa verðmæti. Sjómenn veiða fisk, verslunarmenn tryggja framboð á vörum og umönnunarstörfin halda áfram og svo framvegis.

Mikilvægi fólks verður seint metið í launaumslögum.  Nú starfa þeir hópa sem samfélagið má síst við að missa. Það er ekki hæst launaða fólkið. Við getum vonað að samfélagið muni þetta í næstu kjarasamningum – en það borgar sig ekki að treysta á það.

Við sendum félagsmönnum okkar sem í dag vinna mikilvæg og þakklát störf -störf sem ekki alltaf eru hátt metin af samfélaginu – okkar bestu kveðjur og þakklæti fyrir framlag ykkar. Farið vel með ykkur og gætið að ýtrasta hreinlæti.

 

Everyday heroes

Despite the ongoing pandemic  life goes on. Buses are on schedule; the hospitals are running. Fish factories and aluminum smelters create wealth.  Fishermen fish, shop workers safeguard our groceries and so on.

The importance of people doesn´t reflect in our paychecks.  The groups at work now are the people we need at their stations now.  It´s not the top of the pay scale.  We can hope that this will be remembered when we negotiate our next General contract – but let´s not bank on it.

We send our members who are today working hard to do these important tasks that need to be done, our greetings and thanks for your important contribution. Take care of yourself and stay safe.

 

Bohaterowie codzienności

Pomimo obecnej epidemii życie toczy się dalej. Autobusy jeżdżą, działają szpitale, przetwórnie rybne i huty przerabiają. Marynarze łowią ryby, kupcy zapewniają dostawy towarów, a sprzedawcy obsługują.

Znaczenie tych wykonywanych prac nie ma odzwierciedlenia w tabelach płac.

Dopiero w czasie kryzysu widać, jak ważne są te prace i jaka jest ich społeczna istotność.

To nie są najlepiej opłacani ludzie. Możemy mieć nadzieję że zostanie to zapamiętane podczas negocjacji  kolejnych umów zbiorowych.

Wszystkim naszym członkom, którzy pozostają na swoich stanowiskach pracy jesteśmy bardzo wdzięczni za ich pracę i wkład.
